Welcome to your favourite Wimbledon local

Situated on the edge of Wimbledon Common, our award-winning pub offers a feel of a village life in the heart of London. Our delicious pub classics and popular Sunday roasts bring back all feelings of nostalgia and comfort.

Pies, Puddings and paddles

We’re famous for our home-made comfort food and real ales. Sourced from the freshest seasonal ingredients, our pies are a real must-try and pair perfectly with our award winning beer paddles. Don’t forget to leave room for our delicious puddings.

Home is where
the Hand is

Right on Wimbledon Common, our homely pub transports you to village life, away from the hustle and bustle of busy London. Our pub dates back to 1831, originally a bakery (you can still dine in the old oven area). We have continually offered a fantastic selection of beers and traditional food to all who visited.

Our menu is packed full of traditional dishes, delicious Sunday roasts, tasty puddings and of course… our famous pies are one of a kind.

Our pub is truly is your local countryside pub, located in London.

Andrew and the team look forward to welcoming you!

Meetings and Events

Looking to escape the office? We have a range of spaces available for brainstorming sessions, team building activities and private events.

Nostalgic Sunday roasts

Sunday roasts in our pub transport you straight to the countryside. With giant Yorkshire puddings, crispy and fluffy potatoes, top quality cuts of meat, seasonal vegetables and tasty puddings (make sure you leave room!), surrounded by friendly faces in our cosy pubs.

 Traditional pub food

We’re famous for our home-made comfort food and real ales. Sourced from the freshest, seasonal, British ingredients, our pies and Sunday Roasts are a real must-try and pair perfectly with our award winning beer paddles. If you are looking for something a bit lighter, we have plenty to choose from. Don’t forget to leave room for our delicious puddings…

Book a bespoke beer masterclass

Ale enthusiast, connoisseur and landlord Andrew is offering the wonderful opportunity for groups of  6-12 to learn the ins and outs of real ale. Taking guests into the pubs cellar to explain the history of the pub, the process of beer making, tapping beer and the part we’re all really here for… Tasting different styles of beer!

Make an enquiry and Andrew will get back to you with all of the details.

Six Nations on the common

Andrew will be opening up his rugby emporium once again to loyal regulars and anyone else who wants a more simple, cosy or intimate viewing experience. With one (very large) TV and only a couple of seats, we are doing first come, first served. So make sure you come down early to grab a table or seat at the bar.

Andrew and the team always make us feel welcome, staff are polite and efficient and clearly work so hard to ensure the best possible experience for their customers. We normally stop in once a week on our dog walk for a pint but this time we came for dinner. I had a delicious steak, cooked to my preference with the best peppercorn sauce I’ve ever had! Would highly recommend booking as this place is SO popular especially at the weekend but we were able to grab one of the outside tables which they reserve for walk-ins. Thanks for a lovely evening team!

Chloe and Joe

Cozy, country-style pub with numerous rooms and outdoor seating by the Wimbledon common. Quality food, prompt service and a great selection of tap & cask ales. Make sure to book ahead for Sunday roast!

If I could give more stars I would – top notch. We had a couple of issues this evening, but life isn’t perfect and you judge not by perfection but by how things are handled in its absence. We were blown away by the outstanding attention and service we received. Every member of staff made us feel welcome and part of the furniture. I’m confident that the Hand in Hand is going to become a regular go to local pub for us, with its wonderful surroundings, lovely people, yummy food and excellent choice of drinks.
